چکیده

Seborrheic dermatitis (SD) is a common skin condition highly associated with the progressive neurogenerative disorder Parkinson’s disease (PD). Conventional SD treatment typically includes topical agents; however, recent evidence suggests oral cannabidiol (CBD) may simultaneously ameliorate neurologic symptoms of PD while reducing increased sebum production involved in pathogenesis. As part larger patient study, CBD for was investigated parallel, double-blind randomized controlled trial collecting facial images before and after 3-week 2.5mg/kg/day solution (n=29) or placebo (n=29). Images were assessed independently by two board-certified dermatologists using Dermatitis Area Severity Index (SEDASI) quantitative instrument. After calculating averages SEDASI score ratings, assessors determined whether improved, worsened, did not change. Multiple regression models evaluated effect on these categorical outcomes gender, age, log-scaled duration as interacting covariates. Overall levels severity low cohort at onset, average scores falling mild category both (5.33) (3.55) groups. Pre-treatment, 48.3% CBD-treated patients 58.6% had SD, compared to 37.9% 69.0% post-treatment. Overall, potential predictors reach statistical significance (p=0.05 threshold), found be slightly protective p=0.0528. Notably, although this study adequate power primary objective assessing efficacy motor symptoms, it underpowered detect impact encouraging future investigation. These promising preliminary results indicate role PD.
